- GAF Energy is seeking a hands-on Facilities & EHS engineer who will lead facility & EHS services at our R&D and Manufacturing campus in San Jose, CA
- You will report to the Sr. Director, Manufacturing and support a cross-functional team that designs and builds solar roofing products. You will join a highly focused team that thrives in a start-up, fast-paced and multi-shift environment
- The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail, thrive working in a fast-paced environment who is able to “switch hats” quickly and often
What will you do?
- Lead or assist in facility capital improvement projects, installations and repairs
- Sustain and improve facility & EHS program
- Responsible for regulatory compliance and reports of the facility
- Schedule, supervise, and perform basic repairs and maintenance of the facility
- Contact and schedule contractors/vendor for performing maintenance, installations, inspections, and repair work, or performing yourself, as appropriate
- Request quotations from vendors. Analyze and select suppliers for contracted work
- Ensure installation and maintenance work execution is compliant with regulations
- Provide data and reports necessary for developing capital budgets for the facilities
- Writing/updating procedures, policies, SOPs, Forms, and work flows as needed to support facilities services
- Respond to facility issues and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Responsible for safety training of all employees
- Responsible for regulatory inspections and submittals
- Update building layout, site map, emergency response plan, chemical inventory, etc
- Keep all permits up to date. First point of contact and communication with regulatory agencies
- Conduct Health and Safety routines (such as safety drills and inspections)
- First point of contact for alarms, facilities or security issues (weekend, night)
- Coordinate hazardous waste material pick-up with vendor. Maintain documentation
- Coordinate with suppliers on janitorial and security services
- Analyze and report on facility spends. Drive projects to improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or equivalent
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental, health & safety (EHS) regulations
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software
- 4+ years of experience in facilities & EHS management/engineering position
- Relevant professional certification will be an advantage
- Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing facilities
- Familiar with Building Management Systems maintenance and monitoring
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations
- Impeccable attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and efficient
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to wear safety equipment and perform work, as required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, lift, carry, grasp, bend, reach, kneel, climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work in standing operations for long periods of time as necessary.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental, health & safety (EHS) regulations

$100k-112k, DOE
