The Production Manager is responsible for the managing/overseeing of the overall production function including plugging, masking, racking, blow off, un-racking, cleaning, final inspection and packaging. There is very limited Customer Service interaction, and the overseeing the Maintenance function.
The Production Manager serves as a back up to the General Manager and the scheduling function.
- Enforcing the production schedule and procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations, product quality, reliability, and safety.
- Determine and enforce -- through functional groups - productivity, quality and safety requirements in accordance with real company needs, based on current regulations and state-of-the art product development.
- Promote and support company wide quality improvement efforts, encouraging inter office communications and suggestions.
- Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of operations, quality, reliability and safety.
- Directly responsible for implementation and maintenance of the company Operations procedures, reporting on the performance and initiating improvements for Operations.
The Manager is also responsible for ensuring Production conforms to all the company quality
system procedures as documented in our ISO system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly responsible for implementation, training, adherence to departmental and company procedures.
- Directly responsible for reporting violations of said procedures including suspected but as of yet unproven allegations which might impact the company.
- Directly responsible for printing and prioritizing of all the open work orders in the shop for purposes of daily scheduling.
- Works with Engineering and customers, as required, to ensure products conform to customer requirements.
- Directly schedules personnel to accommodate customer requirements.
- Answer phone in a friendly, cheerful and professional tone.
- Assists customers in overcoming scheduling difficulties in a helpful and courteous manner.
- Engages in various duties as assigned from time to time.
- Overtime may be needed both daily and week-end on an infrequent basis.
- Also responsible for distributing said schedule to designated personnel in each department to ensure its immediate implementation every morning before the regularly scheduled shift starts.
- Also responsible for reporting and rescheduling orders that were placed on hold or running late due to part or process defect and labor related issues.
- Maintain open order reports for qualified large customers and communicate expedite requests needs to General Manager.
- Responsible for supervising the paperwork sign offs and data entry which documents the required processes for anodizing aluminum.
- Answers for the performance of the departments.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work observations are performed on a regular basis around hazardous materials.
- Employee is required to be trained on using any hazardous materials.
- Employee must also undergo a hazmat refresher course, every other year.
- The Production Manager is to be trained to handle hazardous waste, if the Production Manager has not been trained, he/she is not to handle hazardous waste and contact the General Manager for further instructions.
