- GAF Energy is seeking an Equipment Technician who will be responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery
- You will report to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, and work cross-functionally to support R&D and Manufacturing teams. You will join a highly focused team that thrives in a start-up, fast-paced environment.
- This person will be part of the team that is responsible for manufacturing and delivery of high quality, high-volume photovoltaic solar technology solutions that transform today’s roofs. The role will focus on sustaining and improving equipment performance to support high volume manufacturing.
What will you do?
- Provide assistance to assemble, test and maintain manufacturing and lab equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs and calibration on tools and equipment
- Troubleshoot root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions
- Use equipment tracking systems to keep track of equipment and tool history
- Read and follow manuals, diagrams, schematics for equipment operations, repairs and maintenance
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components such as motor starters, relays, limit switches, photoelectric sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, linear drives, encoders
- Develop and update preventive maintenance and repair procedures
- Clean and lubricate equipment on a regular basis
- Maintain inventory control of spare parts and consumables
- Propose opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reliability
- Perform root cause analysis on critical issues and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Respond to equipment issues in a timely manner
- Monitor equipment effectiveness
- Identify and correct equipment inaccuracies or inefficiencies
- Assist engineering and manufacturing teams on improvement projects
- Assist with equipment qualification, experiments and data collection
- Assist with software upgrades and enhancements
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Perform service and maintain equipment such as conveyors, soldering machine, laminators, and assembly equipment
- Lead or participate in activities pertaining to workflow and process improvements
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to wear safety equipment and perform work, as required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, lift, carry, grasp, bend, reach, kneel, climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work in standing operations for long periods of time as necessary.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Job Requirements
- Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
- 4+ years of experience in equipment install, repair and maintenance
- Shift schedule: Night (11:00pm ~ 6:00am), willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary
- Experience in manufacturing expansions and ramp up is a plus
- Experience in deployment of automatic or semi-automatic manufacturing equipment
- Experience in PLCs and HMIs is a plus
- Knowledge of electric control systems, motor starters, heater circuits, relays, fuses, transformers, and contactor
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, and cooling towers a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally and in writing
- Self-motivated, proactive, efficient, and strong attention to detail
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge
- Adhere to company policies and safety requirements
