Job Duties
The Training Lead plays a critical role working closely with the Training Business Partner to ensure that all necessary training is happening in their plant during their shift. This role will help keep our training program updated and address new processes, tools, and machines. This role is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of our manufacturing staff, ensuring that employees and temps receive critical Food Safety, Workplace Safety and Role Specific training in the classroom and on the job. They monitor and audit throughout the shift and collaborate with the Training Business Partner, department Supervisors, Team Leads and Line Performance Technicians to address issues and identify areas for training improvement. This position will report to the Training Business Partner.
TRAINING:
- Lead training efforts assigned to you.
- Provide on the job training. Work side by side with employees-in-training, commend their successes and provide constructive feedback on ways that they can improve.
- Provide effective and engaging classroom training.
- Monitor employees to make sure they are following workplace and food safety rules. Respectfully coach employees who are not adhering to company rules or are engaged in unsanitary or unsafe practices.
- Ensure that learners are learning in the language they are comfortable learning in.
- Ensure that new temps and direct hires receive the necessary guidance, support and feedback to be proficient in their new roles.
- Models the Amy’s core values. (Acts as an ambassador for Amy’s. Provides a warm welcome to new employees and is patient, helpful and supportive as they learn their new role.)
- Develop training for new products, new processes, new machines, new tools, and food safety changes.
- Able to facilitate training for new products, new processes, new machines, new tools, and food safety changes
- Works with Training Business Partner to coordinate/schedule monthly department training
- Works with Training Business Partner to develop and coach Training Specialists.
- Reviews & updates existing course content to ensure it is kept current.
- Works with Training Business Partner to cover overall plant training needs across the different shifts.
- Works with Scheduler to ensure new hires are scheduled for training in correct areas and inputs new hires in Quintiq
- Inputs trainer schedules and employee skills in Quintiq.
Conducts the following types of training:
- Temp/New Hire Training (1st Day, 1st Week)
- Role Specific Basic Training (FF, KIT, SAN), Batch Sheet Training, etc.
- Role Specific FF Training (HL & LL roles)
- Food Safety Training related to any changes that arise
- Alchemy Classroom Facilitation of monthly workplace & food safety topics
Conducts the following types of training for one or more departments*:
- Department specific LOTO& Machine training
- Critical Control Point (CCP) & Preventative Control (PC) training
- Machine Specific Training & Refresher Machine Specific training
- New Machine training
- PIT*
COMMUNICATION
Communicates with Training Business Partner daily to:
- Understand training goals (short & long term)
- Progress and proficiency of temps and employees-in-training. Ensure that they are scheduled appropriately according to their additional training needs.
- Report back on training issues, progress, any safety issues
Communicates with department Supervisors and leads on:
- Progress and proficiency of temps and employees-in-training
- Report any food quality, food safety or workplace safety issues immediately to department management and ensure the Training Business Partner is aware.

- If needed, work outside of shift and/or times to continuously support the training needs in the plant.

EDUCATION
- High school education; or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE
- 4 – 5 years’ experience working on a food manufacturing line.
- Experience in training employees on the job.
- Experience in facilitating classroom training to a group of employees.
- Knowledge of product standards, critical control points, food safety and workplace safety rules in a food manufacturing plant.
